Finca Orgánica (BIO) Hamacas is located in the Brunca region at 1100 meters above sea level: here, with great attention to the production process, works with producers with whom it has long established a collaboration based on trust and respect. The finca’s production consists of sarchimor, iapar and obatà varieties: under the international park of La Amistad, 50 km from the border with Panama, totally organic plantations grow. Research continues to lead to the choice of innovative techniques that make use of microorganisms such as fungi and beneficial bacteria to fight plant diseases, nematodes and insects. In addition, farmers produce organic repellents with hot pepper, onion, garlic, oregano and ginger and bio foliar fertilizers. The soil is fertilized only with bovine manure fed on organic pasture and with loin-compost produced directly on the farm using all vegetable waste, from tree leaves, coffee husks, weeds, etc. The picking of coffee, completely manual, is entrusted to local workers; the manufacturing process is instead carried out with machinery powered by a wheel of a water mill.
